This compact and delicate period painted Swedish Baroque cabinet dates from the mid eighteenth century. Elevated upon scrolled feet the supple curvature of the case deck and cornice push the boundaries of simple country elegance.
Providing visual appeal and functional storage on shelving in both upper and lower sections, the flowing lines of its ‘bonnet top’ crown the substantial raised, sculpted, and fielded door panels. The smaller upper sections its within deck molding accentuating the visual lift leading one’s eye to the flowing lines of the shaped cornice above.
The open upper section reveals delicately curved shelves for storage or display, while the lower section is fitted with additional shelves below. The painted surface has been restored to a historic surface.
