An early 19th C Regency burr yew wood tea caddy of sarcophagus form, the hinged lid opens to reveal two small compartments with burr veneered lids and small white bone turned button knobs. The sarcophagus form is typical for this period, while the more reserved turned mahogany feet and ring handles make this example more restrained and discreet. A diamond bone escutcheon and functioning lock and key complete the picture of this rare and beautiful example from the period.
