Cast bronze Mid 19th century, cast bronze billiard pocket in the form of a baby's hand. Its form would suggest it was originally a side pocket on the table. The condition retains a wonderful verdigris patination, and retains the lead counter balance which helps the hand present the ball after it leaves the table. A novel way for a hand to present the ball during play as the ball offsets the lead weight hinged behind the intricately detailed design. Exceptional design, condition and patination. Presented on a bespoke custom forged iron stand to emphasise its sculptural quality and artistry.
