A George II shagreen knife box with original faded rose silk and contrasting ribbon interior. The traditional bowed and sloped front is secured by a brass lock hasp and functioning key. Complimented by the same brass bail Chippendale pulls on either side and top for transportation, use and security. This rare and unusual Georgian artefact speaks to a time of quality, elegance and sophistication produced by skilled craftsmen whose reputations reflected their workmanship.
